Hi-Lo Liquor's French 75
Cody Hudson
A nice recipe from our friends at Hi-Lo Liquor in Culver City, CA.
The French 75
Created at the legendary Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, this cocktail was first published in 1922. Named for the kick it had - likened to the powerful French 75mm field gun - this one is still going strong. Excellent for New Year’s Eve, of course but also great for New Year’s Day brunch.
1 1/2 oz gin
3/4 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
champagne or sparkling wine
Combine all ingredients - except champagne - in a cocktail shaker over ice and shake vigorously.
Then strain into a champagne flute and top with champagne.
Garnish with a lemon peel.
